timetable & fees
Our Saturday School is an exciting 3 hour session for students aged 8-18 yrs. Split into different age groups, the classes are held in the highly professional environment of Sydenham School in Forest Hill, with its fully equipped dance, drama and music studios.
We offer thorough, energised yet focused technical classes, in which the students really develop their ‘triple threat’ skills. These classes include:
- Ballet Conditioning
- Jazz
- Drama
- Singing
Whilst these classes are integral for any student aiming for a career in the Musical Theatre industry, they are highly beneficial for those simply wanting to experience a more disciplined routine that will contribute to the building blocks required to really ‘Take Flight’ in life.
Our Expectations & Promise
We do not ask potential students to audition to secure a place at our Saturday School but we absolutely do require commitment, enthusiasm, a passion for the performing arts and the desire to become a confident and versatile performer. Once taking part in our classes, each student is treated equally because at Take Flight we believe that all children and young people should get the opportunity to truly soar!
Our classes
Ballet Conditioning
Ballet training produces the core stability necessary for all other forms of dance. During this class, the students work on body conditioning, stretching, flexibility, posture, stamina and ballet based floor work.
Drama
Our drama classes encourage students to explore ideas, characters and scenarios. Through exercises, games or group activities they build confidence through learning the practical understanding of stagecraft, as well as developing improvisation, voice, script work and acting techniques.
Jazz
Our jazz lessons are structured to cover all of the fundamental areas of this style. Warm up exercises are followed by a fun dance routine, allowing the students to improve the skill of picking up choreography. Jazz, street dance and musical theatre all feature.
Singing
Students work on breathing, rhythm, projection, pitch, choral singing, solo singing, harmonies, and acting through song to improve confidence and range. A wide variety of musical genres are enjoyed, including modern, pop and musical theatre.
Also included:
Professionally filmed performances
